UWS Donation Group Gifts Popular Local Dog Park A New Patch Of Grass

A new patch of grass was laid down Thursday in the Bull Moose Dog Run in Teddy Roosevelt Park. The greenery was a gift from a local group.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A popular Upper West Side dog run got a new patch of grass on Thursday after a generous gift from a neighborhood donation group.

Volunteers helped install an 18 by 22 foot patch of canine grass on Thursday at the Bull Moose Dog Run within the Teddy Roosevelt Park at West 81st Street and Columbus.

The grass patch was donated by a member of the Buy Nothing 76-90th Street UWS, which is a group where neighbors share belongings free of charge with one another.

Dogs were already checking out the new addition and playing on the green patch Thursday.

Previously, there was no alternate surface or anything resembling grass within the dog run.

The Bull Moose Dog Run reopened in July 2020 after a renovation that lasted years. It reopened at the time with brand new gates and water fountains.

The dog park is directly next to the American Museum of Natural History and just a block from Central Park. It also has a fenced off section specifically for smaller dogs.
