Mother’s Day was the second-biggest dining day of 2022, and the majority of reservations were booked five days in advance, according to OpenTable survey data. To get a table, reserve now — or at least by May 9, experts say.

The survey, conducted for OpenTable by the online research and data analysis group YouGov, found that 78 percent of U.S. adults plan to celebrate Mother’s Day with a meal out, and that they’ll spend the same or more than they have in previous years.

Also, according to the survey, about 30 percent of moms want to go to their favorite restaurants; 18 percent don’t care where they go, but want the menu to feature their favorite cuisine; 15 percent want to try something new; 12 percent want to eat outdoors; 6 percent want an elevated culinary experience; and 5 percent want to eat at a woman-owned restaurant.
