UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A Danish tourist on the Upper West Side took a bullet in the back after refusing a local man a single buck, according to police and reports.
Upper West Sider Narada Hayles, 36, was arrested Monday night for the attack on the 31-year-old tourist on West End Avenue and 103rd Street early Sunday morning, police said.
Police sources told NBC New York that Hayles asked for just $1 before squeezing off his shot.

Hayles' address in the neighborhood is that of the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health, an organization that provides housing to New Yorkers combatting mental health issues and homelessness, police said.
Residents are referred by the city's Homeless Services department, according to its website.

A person at the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health told Patch that it could not comment or confirm that Hayles was a resident due to privacy issues.
Hayles now faces charges of attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a firearm, and reckless endangerment, according to the NYPD.
The tourist remains in a local hospital, where he is expected to be okay, police said.
