Woman Assaulted On UWS Subway In Apparently Unprovoked Attack: Police
A 28-year-old woman was assaulted on the subway on the Upper West Side early Monday morning, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY – There was an apparent sucker-punch attack on the subway on the Upper West Side early Monday morning, police said.
At approximately 4:50 a.m. on Monday, a 28-year-old woman was traveling northbound on the 3 train when she was approached by an unidentified man, police said.
The man punched her in the face in an apparently unprovoked attack near the West 96th Street and Broadway 1/2/3 express station, police said.

A police spokesperson could not confirm whether the assault occurred on the train or on the platform.
No description of the man, whom the victim said was a stranger, was available. He fled to parts unknown, police said.

The woman was treated at the scene for swelling to her lip, according to officials.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.
