Woman Fights Off Would-Be Rapist In UWS Attack, Police Say
The woman was punched and bitten by a man who tried to take off her clothing, police said.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A woman was beaten and bitten as she fought off a man who tried to rape her on the Upper West Side Wednesday night, police said.
The 37-year-old woman was approached by the man at Central Park West and 84th Street, police said. When she ignored him, he threw her to the ground then kicked, punched and bit her in the head while trying to remove her clothing, police said.
The woman fought back until the attacker, startled by something, ran away on Columbus Avenue, according to police.

She suffered a skull fracture in the attack and was treated at Lenox Hill Hospital for her injuries, the New York Post reported.
Police said the attacker is about 6-feet tall, 200 pounds and bald. He was wearing a white t-shirt, yellow or khaki shorts, black and white sneakers and glasses.
