Woman Slapped After Telling Man To Pipe Down Outside UWS Store: NYPD

A man yelling outside of an Upper West Side Whole Foods hit a woman after she asked him to keep it down on Tuesday evening.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man harassing people outside an Upper West Side grocery store smacked a woman after she asked him to keep it down, authorities said.

The confrontation and attack unfolded Tuesday about 6:20 p.m. when an as-yet-unidentified man stood outside Whole Foods on Columbus Avenue near West 97th Street and yelled at and harassed passerbys, police said.

A 62-year-old woman told the man to keep it down, officials said.

In response, the man slapped her in the back of the head, authorities said.

The woman did not report any injuries, police said.

No arrests have been made and police described the man as appearing to be around 30 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds and with brown hair.
