Women Found Dead In Hudson River Identified As Virginia Sisters

The two women were found dead in the area of 68th Street and Riverside Park on Wednesday.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The two victims found dead and reportedly taped together in the Hudson Riveron Wednesday have been identified as missing sisters from Virginia.

The NYPD identified the two as Tala Farea, 16, of Fairfax, Virginia and Rotana Farea, 22, of Fairfax, Virginia.

Officers were called to the area of 68th Street and Riverside Park around 2:50 p.m. Wednesday. Police said the two women were found unconscious and unresponsive laying on the rocks near the Hudson River. The two women were wearing similar black tights and a black jacket with a fur trim, according to police.

The women had no obvious sign of trauma.

According to information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Tala Farea had been missing since Aug. 24. The poster noted that she may be with her sister, Rotana Farea.

ABC New York reporter Josh Einiger reported that a source said the women were taped together, but an NYPD spokesman could not confirm that detail.

The investigation is ongoing.
