Hempstead Town and Rescue Ink Host Ho Ho Home for the Holidays Pet Adoption Fair

The Town of Hempstead and Rescue Ink, an animal rescue group well known for its National Geographic television series, are teaming up to host a Holiday Pet Adoption Fair at the town's  in Wantagh on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Holiday Party and Pet Adoption Fair will feature a Rescue Ink motorcycle motorcade, a visit from Santa, live music, holiday drinks and refreshments provided by Stop & Shop along with many furry friends. PETCO, Eukanuba, Dog Grooming by Rachel and  of Wantagh will also join the festivities.

"Especially during the holiday season, few things can equal the joy of giving a loving cat or dog a home," said Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray.

"Along with some of the most ardent animal rescuers in the metropolitan area, we'll be ringing in the holiday spirit while working to give shelter dogs and cats a loving home for the holidays," said Hempstead Town Councilwoman Angie Cullin, R-Freeport.

As part of the "Home for the Holidays" Pet Adoption Program, Hempstead Town is waiving all adoption fees as well as rabies vaccination fees for all pets adopted from the town's animal shelter on 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh through January 15, 2011. In addition all cats and dogs adopted will be spayed or neutered and microchipped free of charge. Each adopted pet will also receive a special gift generously donated by Animal Appetites, which is located on 1918 Wantagh Ave. in Wantagh.
