Public Invited to Annual Miss Wantagh Pageant

The public is invited to attend the annual Miss Wantagh Pageant taking place on Thursday evening June 29 at the Auditorium, starting at 8 p.m.

"Our excitement grows with each passing day,” said Ella Stevens, Fourth of July Association President and Miss Wantagh Pageant Coordinator. “We are excited because this year’s Pageant goes back to Wantagh High School. With growing interest and support from the families and friends of the Miss Wantagh contestants as well as merchants in the community, the Fourth of July Association felt it would be a great idea to open the pageant to the entire Wantagh community so that everyone in our town will be able to enjoy this wonderful event.”

This year’s semi-finalists are already preparing for this special event by visiting merchants throughout Wantagh, practicing their speeches and attending rehearsals.

Stevens points out that the Miss Wantagh Pageant is not signified by beauty but is where academic excellence and community service are highlighted.  Stevens said it is not uncommon to find that past Miss Wantagh’s participants have continued giving back to their community or have shown leadership qualities in their respective careers.

At the Pageant, the semi-finalists will tell a panel of judges and the audience all about their achievements and aspirations. They will also answer questions, posed by the judges.  “Their talents will not go unnoticed as they have put together a little skit for everyone’s entertainment,” said Stevens.
