Seaford Wellness Council Sponsoring 7th Annual Tackapausha Preserve Cleanup

The Seaford Wellness Council will be sponsoring its seventh annual community cleanup of on June 4.

The cleanup of the preserve located in Seaford along the Massapequa border is taking place in conjunction with the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day 2011 celebration being conducted across the country that day.

“This is a worthwhile effort to help make Seaford a better community in a real hands-on way,” said Peter Ruffner, secretary and event chair for the  Seaford Wellness Council.

Many community organizations have agreed to participate in the cleanup including the , the Seaford Lions Club and Key Club, according to Seaford Wellness Council president Mike DiSilvio.

The cleanup will start at 9 a.m. Volunteers will meet in front of the Tackapausha Preserve Museum building on Washington Avenue, 100 yards north of Merrick Road in Seaford.

There will be a volunteer appreciation barbeque held at Noon partially funded by the Seaford Lions Club.

“In advance, we thank all the organizations and individuals in Seaford for their participation in this remarkable event,” said Seaford Wellness Council vice president Ken Nersesian. “This is Seaford Pride at its best!”
