Wantagh Fifth Graders Move Up to Middle School

Fifth-grade students in the Wantagh School District’s three elementary schools were recently recognized in three moving-up ceremonies. District teachers, administrators, and members of the Board of Education and community came together to support the advancing students at , and .

The ceremony for each school included welcoming remarks and a processional of students, as well as a variety of musical performances presented by students. Wantagh Elementary School fifth graders pleased the audience with both ensemble and solo performances on instruments such as piano, trumpet and violin, while Mandalay students shared some of their favorite “Memories of Mandalay” with the audience. Forest Lake students showed their creative and artistic abilities when they presented their gift to the school, a piece of artwork themed “Let Your Colors Burst,” which depicted fireworks and featured each student’s face.

The ceremonies closed with the presentation of certificates to every student, followed by closing remarks from each school’s principal. In these remarks, the students were recognized and congratulated for their achievements not only in the classroom, but throughout the community. The students were also encouraged to continue their hard work and dedication to the district in the future, as each fifth-grade class will move on and come together at this September.
