Crime Nearby: Truck Hits Bellmore Post Office, Person Caught Taking Photos of Homes

Bellmore
- On Aug. 27, a sun roof of a vehicle located on Lefferts Place was cut, causing water damage when it rained.
- On Sept. 20, James M Bernhardi, age 53, of Bellmore, was arrested at the seventh precinct in Seaford and charged with aggravated harassment in the second degree.
- The side mirror was removed from a vehicle parked on Linden Street at around 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 21.
- On Sept. 21, it was discovered that jewelry was missing from a residence on Malibu Road.
- On Sept. 27, a subject was driving a Newsday truck when he hit a bump in the roadway and was ejected from the passenger side open door. The truck, driverless, hit the Bellmore Post Office. The building was unoccupied and no one was injured. The driver was treated for minor injuries.

- Sometime between Sept. 22 and Sept. 23, items were removed from an unlocked auto that was located on Post Street.
Merrick

- Sometime between Sept. 20 and Sept. 21, tools and other items were removed from an unlocked garage on Bushwick Avenue.
- A man was approached by two black males on Sunrise Highway in Merrick on Sept. 22. The complainant’s wallet with contents and a cell phone were stolen.
- An unknown suspect(s) broke the passenger side window of a vehicle that was located on Clubhouse Road on Sept. 22.
- On Sept. 24, an unknown suspect arrived at the BP gas station on Merrick Road and requested complainant to fill up his tank. Complainant complied and suspect drove away without rendering payment.
- Two tires were slashed on a vehicle that was parked on Thomas Street. The incident took place on Sept. 24.
Seaford
- On Sept. 19, an unknown suspect stole a wallet containing personal papers from a 2005 white Jeep that was located on Beaver Turn.
- Sometime between Sept. 22 and Sept. 23, a complainant discovered the lock cut on trailer door and a weed wacker and two backpack blowers were stolen.
- Sometime between Sept. 24 and Sept. 25, an unknown suspect(s) cut the top back window of complainant’s soft top and punctured one tire at the Seaford railroad station.
- An unknown suspect(s) punctured both driver side tires of complainant’s 2008 blue Hyundai. The incident happened sometime between Sept. 24 and Sept. 25 on Fulton Avenue.
Wantagh
- On Sept. 21, Nicholas Classi, age 49, of Wantagh, was arrested at the seventh precinct in Seaford and charged with grand larceny in the third degree.
- On Sept. 21, a complainant reported that two subjects rang his doorbell at his home on Demott Avenue and knocked over his flowerpots. Complainant stopped the youths and called 911 and they admitted to pranking the complainant’s house. The parents of the youths arrived at the scene and subjects were released. Complainant requested no further police action.
- On Sept. 22, Andrea Gray, age 30, of Wantagh, was arrested on Hicksville Road near North Suffolk Avenue, Seaford and charged with driving while intoxicated.
- A complainant saw an unknown subject taking pictures of her home on Hitchcock Road then rang her doorbell. This incident occurred on Sept. 22.
- On Sept. 22, an unknown subject rang complainant’s doorbell and asked if an unknown person live there. Unknown subject then returned to his car and began taking pictures of complainant’s home. This happened on Mermaid Avenue.
- Sometime between Sept. 22 and Sept. 23, a complainant discovered the lock cut on trailer door and an edger, two weed wackers, two blowers and a lawn mower were stolen.
- On Sept. 23, Max Sangemino, age 24, of Wantagh, was arrested in Park Avenue near Emma Street, Wantagh and charged with driving while intoxicated and one violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
- On Sept. 26, Complainant reports two unknown suspects stole vegetable oil from a container on the complainant’s property, Lighthouse Diner.
