Crime Report: Pumpkins Damaged at Church, Stolen GPS

Recent incident reports in Wantagh and Seaford from the 7th Precinct.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department's First and Seventh Precinct. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

  • On Oct. 21, Michael A Wheatley, 17, of Massapequa was arrested at the headquarters in Seaford and charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree assault and third-degree criminal trespassing.
  • A vehicle parked on Barrie Avenue in Wantagh was reported damaged on Oct. 21 when a large group of youths ran across the property.
  • A GPS was reported stolen on Oct. 21 from a 2009 blue Ford Taurus parked on Stephen Lane in Wantagh.
  • A doorknob was reported damaged on Oct. 21 at a home on Twin Lane South in Wantagh by unknown suspect(s).
  • On Oct. 22, three male teens were arrested on Woodbine Avenue in Wantagh and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Police said a complainant saw three males run after a car alarm went off. The responding officer stopped three males that were in possession of stolen property who were positively identified by the complainant. Two of the teens are age 17 and the other is 16.
  • On Oct. 22, Robert Smallwood of Glen Cove was arrested at the Nassau County Seventh Precinct headquarters in Seaford and charged with third-degree criminal mischief. Police said Smallwood, 24, damaged pumpkins at on 1845 Wantagh Ave. by driving on the lawn with his vehicle. The vehicle was impounded and pumpkin residue was discovered on the undercarriage of the vehicle, police said.
  • A woman on Wagner Street in Wantagh reported to police on Oct. 23 that five to six male and female youths were creating a disturbance near her residence. Police said the woman yelled for them to quiet down and when they didn’t she called police. The next morning she discovered her driver side mirror broken and removed from a 1998 gray Toyota.
