Dec. 15: Author Fundraiser for Division HS, Breast Cancer Screenings, Spring Sports Signups

1.There will be a chance of showers in southeast Nassau County Thursday with a high temperature near 55 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

2. Author Caroline Bock will be appearing this evening at 7:30 pm at Barnes & Noble in Carle Place reading her new book "LIE" as part of a fundraising night for Levittown's Division High School. Her book touches on the 2008 killing of Ecuadorean immigrant Marcelo Lucero in Patchogue.

3. The Seaford Public Library will have a mammography van offering breast cancer screenings today starting at 8:45 a.m. The program is sponsored by State Sen. Charles Fuschillo, R-Merrick.

4. The Levittown Athletic Club is holding early registration for its Spring 2012 season this evening at 7 p.m. in J. Fred Sparke Elementary School.
