Holiday Events and Basketball This Week

Most of us head back to work after a long break Monday. We start a week with holiday-related events and some winter sports.

Here's a look ahead:

Holiday Events: Wantagh Elementary School will hold its holiday fair on Tuesday and Wednesday, while the Wantagh Middle School and Wantagh High School starts a toy drive Wednesday through next week. Seaford High School's Toy drive begins Monday.

Hoops:  Basketball season starts Tuesday as Wantagh High School hosts a boys hoops tournament starting Monday and a girls tournament, featuring Seaford, which tips off Tuesday.

School Board: The Seaford Board of Education holds a regular meeting at the Manor School Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Underground Railroad: The Seaford Library holds a program Tuesday on Long Islander Elias HIcks and  the role Long Island played in the underground railroad.
It gets underway at 2 p.m.

Downton Abbey: The Wantagh Public Library will host a talk on the English Manor House where the popular PBS series is set Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
