Letter to the Editor: Nassau County Has Given Up on Water Basins

Editor's Note: This article was written by Ted Jones.

Has anyone notice that most of the Water Basins (sumps) in Nassau County are no longer being maintained.

This has been going on for a couple of years and yet Nassau County still receives money from the Environmental Protection Agency to off set the cost. In the event that the Water Basin has to be utilized. The fencing is not kept up, where there was grass you now have grown trees. There is no way of knowing what is going on down there.

Possibly somebody could be living down there you cant see anything, they are all overgrown. The barbed wire fencing is all on and off the fence posts. The people that live near them must like that fact that they now how a woods behind there home, where once they just had a open space.

I guess all the county workers cant get it done. But there is hope I am sure they will get a raise soon and so will the taxes again.
