New Retailer Eyed for Former Wantagh Rite Aid Location

Nearly a year after the Rite Aid in Willow Wood Shops on Wantagh Avenue closed, the building remains vacant.

That soon may be changing however, according to Wilbur Breslin, president and Chief Executive Officer of Garden City-based Breslin Realty, which owns the shopping center on Wantagh Avenue. Breslin said they are in lease negotiations with a national retailer about filling the 11,500 square-feet of space vacated by Rite Aid after the pharmacy closed shop in Wantagh last December. Breslin did not provide specifics on what kind of company was interested in the space but said he hopes to have a deal in place by year's end.

The former Rite Aid building, located in the northernmost section of the Willow Wood Shops, was utilized as a temporary Halloween store in September and October. The 57,000 square-foot Willow Wood Shops owned by Breslin also includes a and among its anchor tenants.
