Police: Seaford Man Tampered With Evidence

Andrew Schneider arrested and charged for actions during Sunday evening drug transaction.

A Seaford man has been arrested by police and charged with tampering with physical evidence during a drug transaction Sunday evening. 

According detectives, Andrew F Schneider, 44, of Seaford was observed by two plainclothes Nassau County police officers engaging in a drug transaction in his driveway on Bryant Drive. Schneider approached an unknown black male in a dark red or maroon colored Nissan that was parked in the driveway, police said. Schneider was holding a white rock substance in his right hand at the time, according to police.

As police approached and identified themselves the unknown black male reversed his vehicle out of the driveway, and then drove it toward the officers, according to detectives. One officer broke the driver’s side window with his right hand causing lacerations to his hand and index finger. He was treated and released at a local hospital.

The vehicle was last seen driving northbound on South Seaman’s Neck Road.

Schneider was placed under arrest at which time he stated to the officers that he had ingested the narcotics.  He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for medical treatment and will be arraigned at a later date. The defendant is charged with tampering with physical evidence and criminal Possession of a controlled substance.
