Siena College Softball Player From Seaford Earns Academic Honor

Stephanie Viggiano is one of 215 students named to Siena's President's List for earning a 3.9 or above grade point average.

A Siena College softball player from Seaford has been recognized by her school for hard work inside the classroom.

Stephanie Viggiano of Seaford, a former standout softball player at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset, was named to Siena's President's List for the Fall 2012 semester. To be named to the President's List, a student's grade point average for the semester must be 3.9 or above. Viggiano, a sophomore accounting major, was one of 215 Siena students to be named to the President's List for the Fall 2012 semester.

In addition to Viggiano's academic success, the Seaford native has also kept busy contributing on the softball field at at Siena, which is located in suburban Albany and competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). As a freshman last season, Viggiano started 29 games and produced 19 hits including three doubles. She was also named to the MAAC Honor Roll last June.

Prior to arriving at Siena, Viggiano earned All-League honors three times at at Our Lady of Mercy where she also was a member of the school's track team. The Seaford native was also recruited for softball by Bucknell, Cornell, Marist, Iona and Sacred Heart, according to her bio on the Siena athletics website.

Viggiano and Siena open the 2013 season on Feb. 23 at East Tennessee State.
