Students Distribute Boating Safety Brochures in Wantagh to Honor Fallen Friend
Children from East Meadow School District took part in project at Wantagh Park boat basin in remembrance of former Bowling Green School student Harlie Treanor, who died in a boating accident on July 4.

Students from in the East Meadow School District handed out boating safety materials on a boat ramp at this past Satuirday to honor their classmate .
Treanor on July 4 when the boat she was on capsized in Oyster Bay.
The students in the school's K-Kids program told the East Meadow Herald that many boaters on the Wantagh waters accepted their brochures and offered their condolences.

“We simply want to help reduce the chance that a boating accident will cause others to endure the sadness and loss that we feel over Harlie’s death,” said Rich Santer, the Bowling Green K-Kids advisor.
Santer told the Herald that the project taught the children that they can turn grief into a positive action.
