Wantagh Church Shown in New HBO Documentary

The new HBO documentary, "Hard Times: Lost on Long Island," shows a Wantagh church in one of its scenes. 

The documentary "spotlights the challenges facing highly skilled, well-educated Long Islanders who lost their jobs after the 2008 crisis, according to a synopsis on the HBO website. At the 43rd minute mark of the film, on 1309 Wantagh Ave. is shown when one of the women featured in the documentary is visiting a food pantry at the congregation. There are also shots of in Wantagh throughout the documentary, which is directed by Marc Levin. 

The movie, which focuses heavily on neighboring Levittown, offer a personal view of how foreclosures and unemployment have devastated many Long Islanders following the 2008 financial meltdown. For further information on the HBO documentary and upcoming air times, click here
