Wantagh HS Musical Production Rescheduled Due to Blizzard
School's postponed performance of Gilbert & Sullivan classic, "Pirates of Penzance", to be made up Sunday and Monday.

The Wantagh High School Drama Department's annual musical production, which was postponed Friday and Saturday due to a blizzard that struck the area, has been rescheduled for Sunday and Monday.
Wantagh's performance of the classic Gilbert & Sullivan comic operetta, Pirates of Penzance, kicked off Thursday night, but the previously scheduled Friday and Saturday shows were call off because of the large snow storm, which dumped around a foot of snow in the area. The rescheduled shows will take place Sunday at 5:30 p.m. and Monday at 7 p.m. in the Wantagh High School Auditorium. All pre-purchased tickets will be honored at these performances.
In a message delivered to district parents this weekend, Wantagh Acting Superintendent Maureen Goldberg applauded efforts of maintenance workers for being able to make the school grounds safe for the public to attend Sunday's musical performance and for when students return to classes.Â
"Know that from the onset of the snowstorm our maintenance staff has been hard at work both throughout the night and into [Saturday] ensuring the safe passage of our students and staff on Monday," Goldberg said. "All buildings have power and heat and at this point all parking lots and sidewalks have been cleared. Barring an unforeseen issue we plan to open school on Monday at the usual time."
