Wantagh Man Facing Weapon Charges After Tuesday Arrest: Police

Police say they found several guns while investigating an Austin Avenue residence.

WANTAGH, NY. — A Wantagh man is facing weapon possession charges after police found firearms and accessories at an Austin Avenue home, police said.

Nassau County police said 56-year-old Edward Sheintul was arrested Tuesday afternoon after officers responded to the Austin Avenue home at 1:51 p.m. Upon investigation, officers found three rifles, a pistol, three high-capacity magazines and two lower receivers for handguns, police said. Police determined the weapons belonged to Sheintul and arrested him without incident, police said.

Sheintul now faces a charge of criminal possession of a firearm, six third-degree counts of criminal possession of a weapon and two fourth-degree charges of criminal possession of a weapon, police said. His arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday, police said.
