Wantagh Resident Who Died Of 9/11 Illness, Honored With Street Naming

NYPD Lieutenant Kenneth Rosello died in 2016.

WANTAGH, NY — A street renaming took place over the weekend in honor of a police officer from Wantagh, who died of a 9/11-related illness.

The corner of Ewell Place and Cornelius Avenue in Wantagh is now named for Lieutenant c Place. The NYPD lieutenant died in 2016 at age 64.

Rosello was raised in Elmont, but lived for more than 30 years in Wantagh. He also served for three decades in the NYPD.

As the NYPD Ceremonial Unit tweeted, "Lieutenant Rosello passed away from the cancer developed during the rescue efforts after the attacks of 9/11."

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin and Congressman Anthony D'Esposito joined family members at Saturday's ceremony.
