Wantagh School District Holding Community Input Meeting for Superintendent Search

Public will have chance to give feedback on what Board of Education should look for when hiring new schools leader.

Wantagh residents will get a chance to provide feedback on what the Board of Education should look for when hiring its new superintendent of schools during a community meeting scheduled for Wednesday evening.

Wednesday’s meeting scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium will be facilitated by School Leadership, LLC, an executive search firm by the Board of Education last month to assist in the district’s search for a superintendent of schools. Wantagh's hiring process for a new superintendent comes after Dr. Lydia Begley left her position as school district leader to take a at Nassau BOCES this past October. Former Bethpage Superintendent Dr. Richard Marsh is while the school board looks for Begley's replacement.

Wantagh district officials said the first step in the superintendent search process is for the Board of Education to provide search consultants with a profile or specification of the skills and background that it seeks in a new schools leader. The school board is requesting the input of all stakeholders in the district as it prepares for these specifications.
