Wantagh Students Pen Letters of Appreciation to Military
These Wantagh Middle Schoolers walked in the Memorial Day Parade after writing moving pieces of appreciation.

Wantagh Middle School students in grades 6-8, who participated in the annual Wantagh Middle School Memorial Day Speech Contest, put appreciation for the military in writing. This year’s topic was “I appreciate the military because…”
Commander John Menechino and Wantagh American Legion Post 1732 members honored the grade winners. The winners and runners-up were then invited to walk in the Wantagh Memorial Day Parade, and the winning eighth-grade student Austin Henglein was invited to speak at the American Legion headquarters after the parade.

Eighth grade: Samm Perez (first place), Grace Anne McKenna (second place) and Megan Fehling (third place)
Seventh grade: Katelyn McHale (first place), Alexandra Vaccaro (second place) and Ethan Insinga (third place)
