19 People Injured In Washington Heights Building Blaze: FDNY
Nearly two dozen people were hurt in a fire Tuesday morning in a residential building at 600 West 186th Street, according to the FDNY.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — For the third time in two weeks, a major fire broke out Tuesday morning in Washington Heights.
Nineteen people were injured in the blaze that started around 6:45 a.m. on the first floor of an apartment building at 600 West 186th Street, an FDNY spokesperson told Patch.
14 of the residents were treated for minor injuries at the scene and five people were taken to Columbia Presbyterian, the FDNY said.

All of the injuries were non-life-threatening.
The fire was placed under control by 7:46 a.m., FDNY said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, but heavy clutter was reported in the apartment where the flames started, ABC7 reported.
The Tuesday morning blaze comes 12 days after a fire injured two people at 729 West 186th Street on Oct. 29.
Just hours after the fire at 729 West 186th Street injured two people, Robert Resto, 7, was killed and a woman seriously hurt on Oct. 30 in a fire in the basement of a building at 660 West 178th Street.
FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said such fires are more common as the seasons change.
