Months after a demolition permit was filed for the uptown garage, new permits have now been filed for a 260-foot-tall development.

INWOOD, NY — It appears that Inwood is about to get a new 20-story mixed-use building.
New building permits were just filed with the city for a 260-foot-tall tower at 4650 Broadway, which is currently the location of a parking garage.

The new proposed 258,443-square-foot development will have the following designations:

- 17,376 square feet for commercial space
The building will have 222 residents, according to permits.
In 2018, the Brooklyn-based real estate development firm Hello Living purchased the 4650 Broadway property for $55 million.

At the time, YIMBY reported that the firm was planning to build a $190 million mixed-use development that would consist of 272 residential units with 30 percent of the units as affordable housing.
Additionally, there would be 140,000 square feet of community facility space and 40,000 square feet of commercial space, according to YIMBY.
A demolition permit for the Inwood garage was subsequently filed with the city in June of 2021.
While the size figures and number of residents are certainly in the same ballpark as those reported in 2018, the recently filed permit depicts a development that is a good bit smaller.
Handel Architects is listed as the architect for the Inwood development.
