WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A new eight-story building is coming to a vacant lot in Washington Heights, according to permits recently filed with the city.

The building will be an eight-story mixed-use property at 563 West 170th Street, between St. Nicholas Avenue and Audubon Avenue.

It will be constructed within a lot that has stood vacant since at least 2012, as shown by Google Maps images.

The height of the new building aligns with those around it.

The 563 West 170th Street address is almost directly across the street from the Audubon Playground.

It is unclear when the construction will start, but a demolition permit for the address will probably never be filed since the new building is being constructed on a vacant lot.
