Crew Robbing Deliverymen Strikes In Washington Heights: Police

The three muggers are also wanted for robbing three food deliverymen in the Bronx.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a crew of muggers who are targeting food delivery workers, police said.

After three robberies in the Bronx, the crew appears to be making its way into Manhattan, police said. The most recent robbery occurred inside a building on West 189th Street between St. Nicholas and Audubon Avenues on Friday, Aug. 17, police said.

A 45-year-old food deliveryman arrived at the Washington Heights apartment building shortly after midnight, police said. When he got to the door, three men grabbed him and pulled him inside the building's entrance, police said. Once inside the building, the deliveryman was assaulted and robbed of his cell phone, $20 in cash and the food order, police said.

The deliveryman suffered minor injuries and was treated on the scene by EMS, police said.

The same three men who robbed the deliveryman are wanted in connection with three similar robberies in the Bronx, police said. All four robberies have occurred in the month of August and all follow the same formula. A food delivery is called in for a location where the workers are ambushed, attacked and then robbed, police said.
