WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A Dominican seafood spot in Washington Heights was just named one of the best affordable eateries in New York City.
Eater NY senior critic Robert Sietsema recently compiled a list of the 40 best inexpensive dining destinations in New York City.
The lone representative from Washington Heights or Inwood was Calle 191 Pescaderia Fish Market at 1609 St. Nicholas Avenue (between West 190th and 191st Streets.)

Here's what Sietsema had to say about the tasty uptown eatery.
"Located in the northern reaches of Washington Heights near Highbridge Park, this Dominican establishment handily combines a fish market with a restaurant a tad more formal than most fish market eateries," Sietsema wrote in the Eater article. "Decorated with artificial palm trees, it also boasts a bar, and the lengthy menu features nearly every Spanish and Latin-Caribbean seafood dish imaginable. One favorite is the marvelous asopao, a tomatoey and vinegary rice soup flavored with garlic and cilantro, generously dotted with large shrimp."
