Hispanic Society Museum Hosting Winter Concert In Wash Heights

The free concert on Dec. 9 will feature the music of Mozart, Ravel, and a host of Dominican composers. Here's how you can attend.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The music of Mozart, Ravel, and a host of Dominican composers will come to life soon at The Hispanic Society Museum & Library in Washington Heights.

The Hispanic Society Museum & Library will host "A Winter Concert: A Night of Latin American Composers and More" at the library of the Academy of Arts and Letters at 633 West 156th Street on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.

The event is free.

The program includes music from the following composers:

  • Ariel Pirotti (Argentine): "Tangoide" for harp, flute, clarinet and strings
  • Julio A. Hernandez (Dominican): "Romanza" for voice and piano arranged for harp and string quintet
  • Aura Marina Del Rosario (Dominican): "Caracola" arranged for harp and string quintet
  • Claude Debussy (French): "Danses Sacree et Profane" for harp and string orchestra
  • Maria Grever (Mexican): "Te Quiero Dijiste" arranged for harp and string quintet
  • Wolfgang Mozart (Austrian): "Clarinet Quintet" in A major
  • Maurice Ravel (French): "Introduction and Allegro" for harp, flute, clarinet and strings
  • Marcel Grandjany (French): "Aria in Classic Style" for harp and string orchestra
  • Carlos Salzedo (French): "Chanson dans la Nuit" for harp, flute, clarinet and strings

The music will be performed by La Camerata Washington Heights, which is a group of musicians formed by the faculty members from the Washington Heights Community Conservatory of Fine Arts.
