Iconic Wash Heights Theater Reopens With Renovations, Film Series
Lin-Manuel Miranda on Tuesday announced that free movie screenings are returning to the revamped United Palace theater in 2022.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Movies are returning to the renovated and revamped United Palace theater in Washington Heights.
The iconic Upper Manhattan venue is located at 4140 Broadway, between West 175th and 176th Street, and has been shuttered completely for the majority of the pandemic.
The theater's management teamed up with Broadway star and Washington Heights native Lin-Manuel Miranda to announce Tuesday its reopening and the return of its free movie screening series.

The first screening of the series is set for Jan. 30. You can visit the United Palace's website to vote on six of the movies you'd like to see be screened at the theater from January to June.
Some of the movie options to vote on include: "All That Jazz," "Black Panther," "Do The Right Thing," "Finding Nemo," "Men in Black," and "Titanic." You can also write in your own movie suggestion.

Miranda also said notable figures would visit the theater to discuss the films, reported AMNY.
The United Palace theater is reopening with some major renovations, including a brand new screen and improved surround sound. While there are new traits to the theater, the renovations were made with the thought of keeping the venue's old-school aesthetic intact.
