Inwood Woman Named Deputy Borough President Of Manhattan
Mark Levine appointed longtime Inwood resident and chief of staff Aya Keefe as a new Deputy Borough President.

INWOOD, NY — Inwood just got another resident as a representative for the borough of Manhattan.
Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine announced on Thursday that he was appointing longtime Inwood resident Aya Keefe as Deputy Borough President — a position of which there is more than one.
Keefe has worked with Levine for the last 14 years, most recently as his chief of staff in the Upper Manhattan District 7 City Council office.

"I am tremendously proud to announce Aya Keefe as my next Deputy Borough President," Levine said in a news release on Thursday. "I’m thrilled that Aya will lead the Borough President’s in crafting transformative policy, ensuring that land use is community-driven, and funding capital projects that make Manhattan more equitable, more dynamic, and greener.”
Keefe will specifically oversee the Manhattan Borough President's office's policy, land use, capital funding, and internal operations.

“It’s an honor to continue to serve Manhattanites, and I look forward to how we can use the platform of the Office of the Borough President to catalyze Manhattan’s recovery and advocate for our communities’ long-term needs,” Keefe said in the news release.
Levine also appointed Harlem resident Keisha Sutton-James, who most recently worked as campaign manager for Alvin Bragg's successful Manhattan District Attorney bid.
