INWOOD, NY — A new affordable housing tower looks to be coming to Inwood after permits were filed recently with the city.

Plans were filed with the Department of Buildings for a 17-story mixed-use building with affordable housing at 405 West 206th Street. The plans encompass the entire block along Ninth Avenue from West 206th to West 207th Streets.

While a portion of the units have been designated as affordable, it is currently unclear how much each apartment will cost.

The tower will be 17 stories high, 175 feet tall, and house 194 units.

The owner of the development, L+M Development Partners, purchased the 20,000 square-foot parking lot for $7.2 million earlier in 2021, reports New York Yimby.

New York Yimby also reports that the tower will have 160,128 square feet for residential space and 15,838 square feet for commercial space — along with 113 enclosed parking spaces.

There is no demolition permit on file with the city for the existing property at 405 West 206th Street, meaning it's unclear when construction of the new Inwood tower will begin.

Beyer Blinder Belle is the architect for the incoming development.

The plans for 405 West 206th Street are the latest in a string of recently announced developments in Upper Manhattan following the approval of the city's Inwood Rezoning Plan.
