Police Shoot Man Armed With Gun In Washington Heights: NYPD
After telling a man to drop his gun multiple times, police shot a man in Fort Washington Park on Sunday, the NYPD said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Police shot a man in Fort Washington Park on Sunday in Washington Heights after he failed to drop his gun multiple times, according to the New York Police Department.
The shooting happened after police responded around 8:15 p.m. to calls of shots fired in Fort Washington Park near West 168th Street.
While searching the park for the shooter, police found a 23-year-old man armed with a gun, NYPD said.

Officers ordered the man to drop his weapon multiple times in English and Spanish, but the 23-year-old did not comply and pointed the gun at the cops, NYPD said.
At that point, the officers fired their guns at the man, striking him in the torso, NYPD said.

The man was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in stable condition, and an unspecified number of officers were removed to a local hospital for evaluation.
