Teenager Stabbed Outside Inwood Bodega, Police Say

The stabbing occurred after an argument inside the store, police said.

INWOOD, NY — The NYPD is searching for a man accused of stabbing a teenager outside of an Inwood bodega, police said.

A 17-year-old got into an argument with another person inside the bodega on the corner of Vermilyea Avenue and Academy Street on Saturday just before 8 a.m., an NYPD spokesman said. During the argument, the man flashed a knife at the 17-year-old, police said.

The two went outside the business and fought on the street corner, an NYPD spokesman said. During the fight, the 17-year-old was stabbed in the chest, an NYPD spokesman said.

The NYPD spokesman could not confirm which hospital the 17-year-old was taken to. The teenager did not die from his injuries, the spokesman said.

An arrest has not been made in connection with the stabbing, an NYPD spokesman said.
