Uptown Art Shows To Focus On Health, Women Artists

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS-INWOOD, NY ā Two free art exhibits are opening in Uptown Manhattan, one focusing on the intersections of health and art and the other focusing on the female artists of Washington Heights and Inwood.
Both exhibits are free to attend and open to the public. The shows were organized by the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance in collaboration with neighborhood institutions, according to the alliance.
The first exhibit, "Women in the Heights: Resistance," opened on International Women's Day. The exhibit is being held at the RIO II Gallery at 583 Riverside Drive, located between west 137th and 138th streets, according to NoMAA. "Women in the Heights" runs until March 28 and will include a special closing night workshop called "Artivism- How to develop and fund your project"

All of the artwork shown during the "Women in the Heights" exhibit is produced by women artists from Uptown Manhattan, according to NoMAA.
The second exhibit, "Serving Healthful Art," focuses on the relationship between health and art. The exhibit was created by a partnership of NoMaa, NewYork-Presbyterian, The Allen Hospital and Art In FLUX. "Serving Healthful Art" opens on March 19 at the Allen Pavillion Hospital at 5141 Broadway and West 220th Street in Inwood.
