Video Released Of Police Shooting Outside Inwood Club Amid Brawl

INWOOD, NY — The NYPD released police-worn body camera footage and other CCTV video over the weekend of a police officer shooting a man who opened fire outside an Inwood club on Sept. 27.

The shooting unfolded around 3:47 a.m. outside the 11:11 Restaurant & Lounge at 3964 10th Avenue and the Made in Mexico Restaurant at 3950 10th Avenue.

Sergeant Osvaldo Hernandez and Police Officer Emilio Pichardo, both of the 34th Precinct, were posted outside the 11:11 Restaurant & Lounge to patrol the area when the neighborhood's clubs close, police said.

A group of men started arguing outside the Inwood club and the confrontation turned physical. The club security however did a "great job" defusing the situation initially, police said.

As security dispersed the group, a second fight broke out where moments after a man threw a right punch at an unidentified person, Isamuel Alcantara-Reyes, 25, appeared with a gun and began firing shots, police said.

Alcantara-Reyes shot four people at close range in the span of a few seconds, causing non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Sergeant Hernandez responded by firing three bullets at Alcantara-Reyes, striking him multiple times and bringing him to the ground, police said.

Alcantara-Reyes was placed under custody and taken to the Harlem Hospital for surgery, police said. He survived.

Alcantara-Reyes was later indicted on one count of attempted murder in the second degree, two counts of assault in the first degree, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

These cases are being prosecuted by the New York County District Attorney's Office.
