Washington Heights Fire: Burnt Items Thrown Out Of Windows

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A major fire broke out in Washington Heights around 12:50 p.m. on Friday, according to emergency alerts and an eyewitness.

The flames happened within the top floors of a building at 729 West 186th Street, an eyewitness told Patch.

Around 30 minutes after the flames started within the building, firefighters inside started tossing charred belongings out of their windows and onto the scaffolding below, the eyewitness told Patch.

The New York Police Department is also at the scene.

The eyewitness told Patch that two people were taken away in ambulances.
