Washington Heights Pizzeria Is The Most Ordered From In USA

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — In a serious slice of uptown pride, a pizzeria in Washington Heights was just named as the most ordered pizza joint in the entire country for the first part of 2022.

In honor of National Pizza Day on Wednesday, GrubHub released a list of the most ordered pizza spots in the country on its platform since the start of the year.

The No. 1 pizzeria?

Fresco's Pizzeria at 804 West 187th Street.

To put that staggering No. 1 ranking in perspective, there are over 61,000 pizzerias in the United States, according to the American Business Bureau.

The Washington Heights pizzeria feeds around 1,500 online orders every week, according to a press release from GrubHub. It also is a favorite of the frontline workers staff at the New York Presbyterian Columbia University Irving Medical Center on 168th Street.

For those who don't know about Fresco's, it opened in March 2015 with a menu of pizzas that includes New York Classic Cheese, Fig and Goat Cheese, Pear and Gorgonzola, Prosciutto and Arugula, Four Cheeses, Margarita and Pepperoni.

The pizzeria also serves up salads, paninis, pasta, and particularly popular garlic knots.

In the wake of the unexpected announcement, Fresco's Pizzeria took to its social media to respond to the honor.

"Such an honor to be featured in this article on National Pizza Day," the uptown pizzeria wrote. "We are so thankful to all our customers!"

Those loyal customers took to the comment section to celebrate the pizzeria's No. 1 ranking.

"Yay! Much deserved," one person wrote. "It's the best pizza anywhere."

"The absolute best pizza, hands down," another customer commented. "Congratulations."
