Woman Robbed At Knifepoint In Wash Heights Train Station: VIDEO

A woman fought back against a knife-wielding purse thief recently in a Washington Heights train station robbery, video shows.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A woman had a knife pulled on her and her purse ripped from her hands while standing within a train station in Washington Heights, video released on Sunday shows.

Around 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, a 43-year-old woman was standing within the mezzanine of the C line at the West 163rd Street station, when a man charged at her with a knife and tried to rip her cell phone away, police said.

The woman fought back, though, hanging onto her phone, but wasn't able to stop the attacker from taking her purse, police said.

Video of the robbery shows the woman chasing after the man as he fled the Upper Manhattan station.

The purse was later found, but the money in it was gone, police said.

Police released the following photos Sunday of the man wanted in connection with the robbery.
