$200-A-Night Whiskey Lounge Opening In Village Penthouse

Chef Hiroki Odo is set to offer a once a week whiskey lounge experience in a Lower Manhattan penthouse.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — If you're looking for a new way to spice up your Thursday nights, a secluded whiskey lounge is opening up one night a week inside a Greenwich Village penthouse.

The secluded whiskey lounge will open on Thursday nights in o.d.o by ODO at the Westerly, at 39 East 13th Street near Union Square.

Chef Hiroki Odo will transform the space into a private whiskey lounge on Thursday nights beginning Oct. 1. Odo will then hand off the reins to renowned sushi chef Eiji Ichimura to turn the penthouse apartment into a world-class sushi experience on Fridays and Saturdays, which opened for the first time earlier this week.

Odo runs the self-named Japanese restaurant at 17 W. 20th Street.

The lounge will be located on the seventh floor of the prewar Westerly building, which features interior design work by award-winning Phillip Wu Architects.

The whiskey lounge will serve patrons from 6 to 11 p.m. on Thursdays, with each seating lasting two hours maximum, according to Timeout. The space can hold 16 people, and also has an outdoor terrace that seats eight.

You'll be able to choose from a collection of rare Japanese whiskeys, including some from Odo's personal collection.

It's $200 per person, which includes the cocktail and food pairings, and you can reserve a seat at whisky.reservation@gmail.com.

Reservations for a sushi night with Ichimura are pricier. The meal is expected to go for $350, and will only be served to 20 guests total each night on Fridays and Saturdays through at least Oct. 17.

The opening of the penthouse whiskey lounge and sushi dinner experience is a welcomed sight in a Greenwich Village neighborhood that has seen dozens of long time restaurants shut up shop due to losses from the coronavirus pandemic.
