Bistro Offers Taste Of France In West Village
Bistro Pierre Lapin brings traditional French food to Bank Street.

WEST VLLAGE, NY – A taste of Paris has arrived on Bank Street. The neighborhood's newest restaurant is the creation of chef Harold Moore and offers up traditional French bistro staples – with a New York City twist.
Bistro Pierre Lapin, at 99 Bank Street, is Moore's first restaurant despite a 20 year career in French cuisine. He opened it on May 21 with co-owner Julia Grossman.
“The kitchen at Bistro Pierre Lapin feels like a grandmother’s home, where the food is prepared with extra care and in small batches,” Moore said.

“I hope that customers feel like they wandered into something special.”
The eatery's signature dishes include toasted brioche with flambeed fricassee of mushrooms, housemade foie gras, Croque Madame and a whole-roasted chicken for two, according to a release issued by the restaurant.

The chef will also focus on using seasonal vegetables.
“We’ve always been inspired by what we find so charming about some of our favorite bistros in Paris, those that preserve the past through little details and exude an unapologetic casualness in ambiance, and we sought to recreate this experience,” said Moore.
“For us, that feeling comes to life by sourcing the most authentic, high quality items, and presenting them in a way that feels honest.
“This project is different from anything I’ve done in the past because I’ve shared the entire process with Julia. It’s a collaboration of our combined interests and ideas, and a mission to reimagine some of the favorite meals we’ve been lucky enough to experience together, only through a New York lens.
"We want people to leave feeling like they were in someone’s home and spent the whole afternoon over a bottle of wine, indulging in tasty bites, and with great company.”
Bistro Pierre Lapin is open daily from 8 a.m. - 11 p.m., serving cafe breakfast all day, dinner from 5 p.m. - 11 p.m., and bar from 11 a.m., with full lunch and weekend brunch soon to be announced.
