Decadent Nutella Cafe Opens Near Union Square

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Nutella lovers can sink their teeth into gooey hazelnut spread creations at the country's second Nutella Cafe.

The much-anticipated haven for sweet tooth's opened Wednesday at 116 University Place near Union Square with a decadent menu of nutella-laced cakes, crepes and coffees. The New York location comes after the May, 2017 opening of the wildly successful Chicago cafe.

Foodies can build their own sweet treats at the "Create Your Own" station, which comes with a choice of base (crepe, pancake, croissant or waffle) and fillings (such as strawberries, blackberries and apple compote), and can be topped with whipped cream, chopped hazelnut or gelato.

The creations are as pricey as visitors make them with bases running from $5.95-$7.95, and fillings and topping costing between $1-$3.95.

Baked goodies at the cafe include flaky croissants, hazelnut blondies and grilled banana bread topped with a Nutella drizzle.

Breakfast food fans can choose from the pound cake panzanella — which blends yogurt, basil and mixed berries topped with Nutella and toasted hazelnut — strawberry quinoa pudding, "overnight oats" and a chia hemp seed parfait crafted with greek yogurt, fruit, granola and a generous layer of Nutella.

If that wasn't enough, the cafe also features a gelato bar with Nutella-infused flavors and a frozen Nutella pop served in a push-pop.

Guests can wash down all that Nutella with more Nutella with a lineup of hot and iced hazelnut spread-infused drinks and a dollop of Nutella whipped cream.

The cafe, which is practically built for instagram, features a bright white, backlit selfie wall where patrons can snap photos in front of a backdrop of Nutella.

New York's Nutella cafe opens its doors at noon on Wednesday. Expect long lines.

Nutella Cafe at 116 University Place is open Mondays through Thursdays 7 a.m.-9 p.m., Fridays 7 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturdays 8 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sundays 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
