Eatery With 100-Plus Wine Options Opens In The West Village
Temperance Wine Bar opened Wednesday at 40 Carmine Street between Bleecker and Bedford Street. Here's what to know.
WEST VILLAGE, NY — Wine lovers rejoice! A new restaurant with over 100 wine options just opened in the West Village.
The Temperance Wine Bar welcomed customers for the first time Wednesday at its 55-seat space at 40 Carmine Street between Bleecker and Bedford Street.
Owners Jonathan Rexroat and Devin Rochford have partnered with sommelier A.J. Ojeda-Pons to oversee a wine program at the eatery that will be paired with a menu of snacks and small plates.

The wines range from affordable to higher-end, and feature classic European producers like Foradori and Clotilde Davenne, wines from New York like Millbrook Estate in the Hudson River Valley and Osmote in the Finger Lakes, wines from the US like Monte Rio Cellars in California and Day Wines in the Willamette Valley, wines from less traditional wine countries like Morocco, Lebanon and Cyprus, and more, according to a news release about the opening.
Customers will be able to pair those wines with food options, including duck meatballs, sweet and spicy cauliflower, and stuffed poblano peppers.

Temperance will be open Sunday through Wednesday from 4 p.m. to midnight, and Thursday to Saturday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
