AMT Theater is the brainchild of Producer Al Tapper ("Broadway: The Golden Age") and Artistic Director Tony Sportiello. The goal is to create a regional theater right in the heart of Manhattan's theater district; creating new shows and new musicals, doing children's theater, cabaret, festivals, readings, film and more. It is a haven for actors, writers, directors, technicians, stagehands and audiences, as we seek to create exciting new work and become an integral piece of the Broadway community. Tutu School exists to make space in the lives of children, 6 months to 8 years old, for creativity and joy. We do one thing – provide very young students with a magical introduction to ballet – and we focus all of our energy on doing that one thing in the highest quality manner possible. This means that every aspect of your child’s experience at Tutu School- from the sparkling spaces to the smiling faces – has been specifically tailored to the needs of even the tiniest dancers. Our carefully crafted curriculum was designed by dance professionals and developmental specialists to ensure that precisely the right amount of ballet technique is being introduced to students at exactly the right time, and not any earlier than their little bodies and young imaginations are ready for it. Importantly, our Tutu teachers receive thoughtful training in our curriculum and in the best ways to support young dancers, whatever their age, developmental stage, or level of experience. We believe in introducing students to ballet in a way that makes sense for their bodies and their development, but that also nurtures their creativity and love of music and movement. GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — A family fought off an armed man who wanted to rob them in the Greenwich Village, police said Monday. The would-be thief pulled a gun on the 41-year-old man near Bleecker and Sullivan streets about 11:40 p.m. Sunday, police said. Instead of handing over his stuff, the 41-year-old made a grab for the gun as his family jumped in to help, police said. In the struggle, the gunman fired a single shot — that did not hit anybody — then jumped into a white BMW sedan and sped away, police said.NYPD did not specify to Patch how many family members took part in fighting off the robber. Police released photos of the suspect Monday and asked anyone with information to call the NYPD tip hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
