Family Fights Off Gunman In Greenwich Village: NYPD
The would-be armed robber shot fired a single shot before fleeing the family, according to the NYPD.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — A family fought off an armed man who wanted to rob them in the Greenwich Village, police said Monday.
The would-be thief pulled a gun on the 41-year-old man near Bleecker and Sullivan streets about 11:40 p.m. Sunday, police said.
Instead of handing over his stuff, the 41-year-old made a grab for the gun as his family jumped in to help, police said.

In the struggle, the gunman fired a single shot — that did not hit anybody — then jumped into a white BMW sedan and sped away, police said.
NYPD did not specify to Patch how many family members took part in fighting off the robber.

Police released photos of the suspect Monday and asked anyone with information to call the NYPD tip hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
