Help Decide Where $1 Million Will Go In The West Village
Rain gardens to help with flooding and protected bike lanes are some of the ideas already submitted for funding in District 3.
WEST VILLAGE, NY — The Participatory Budget process is now open in the West Village's District 3, which means you can submit or support ideas in the neighborhood for the chance to receive funding.
From now through Oct. 17, West Village and Greenwich Village residents can propose ideas on how $1 million of Council Member Erik Bottcher's city budget allocation will be used in the neighborhood.
The projects must be used for physical infrastructure that benefits the public, cost at least $50,000, and have a lifespan of at least five years.

Other ideas already submitted for District 3 include tree plantings, security camera installations, and new bike lanes.
District 3, along with the West Village and Greenwich Village, also includes Chelsea, Hudson Yards, Midtown, and Times Square.
Projects previously chosen for funding in District 3 include $125,000 for real-time arrival information at five bus stops, $200,000 for street tree protectors like tree guards and care tags, and $150,000 to install air conditioning at the P.S. 111 library.
