Knife-Wielding Dad Surrenders To Police After Filmed Tirade: NYPD

The man allegedly hit his child on a West Village E train and then threatened a straphanger for calling him out for the child abuse.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — The knife-wielding dad who allegedly smacked his child before flipping out on a subway rider surrendered to police Tuesday night, authorities said.

Edgar Rodriguez, 23, faces criminal charges after he was caught on video menacing another straphanger on an uptown E train near the West Fourth Street station on June 24, police said.

Rodriguez was riding with his toddler-aged son when he allegedly struck the child. A fellow commuter called him out on the act and Roriguez allegedly flew into a rage, threatening to kill the man in front of his wife and young daughter, authorities said and video shows.

The deranged dad was caught on camera screaming, "It's my kid, n-----! Worry about your own kid, n-----!" and repeatedly yelled, "suck my d--k," officials said. Even after the train pulled into the station he held the train doors open and continued his vulgar rant, brandishing a small knife and spitting at the family through the open doors, video shows.

Rodriguez was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, police said. He is due in court on Wednesday.
