WEST VILLAGE, NY — Bleecker Street gets another specialty food shop this week with the addition of an 80-year-old favorite from Huntington, Long Island.

Kerber's Farm, taking over the old space from Murray's Cheese Bar, is now open, offering homemade baked goods, farm fresh veggies, eggs, jams, honey and other farm-style provisions, according to Guest of a Guest.

The newcomer farm shop faces stiff competition on that strip of Bleecker Street, with Ottomanelli & Sons, Nurray's Cheese, Faicco's Italian Specialties and Pasticceria Rocco steps away.

But owner Nick Vouglaris III, who lives just a few blocks away, told Guest of a Guest that "it has been a dream of mine to bring the charm and nostalgia of Kerber’s Farm and our signature homemade pies and favorite dishes to New York City.”

This neighborhood is my home, and I am delighted to bring my business here too,” Vouglaris said.

Additionally, the online site reports that a café menu boasts "some of the best sandwiches in town," a bold claim to make with Faicco's just two doors down.

But the recommended cheddar buttermilk biscuit egg sandwich? Not exactly something you can get next door.
